AI has the potential to accelerate sustainable growth for the HoReCa sector by contribute to achieving or facilitating some of the aforementioned 17 SDGs. A 2019 study [7] indicated that AI can enable the accomplishment of 134 (out of 169) targets across all the SDG goals.
\nSince these objectives direct the development of systems oriented towards achieving certain results in the future, by paying attention to the specification of the objectives we can note the contribution to the following, with the support of AI:

As is known, the HoReCa sector implies the engagement of young people. In this regard, we can cite data from the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work: \"the sector employs mainly young people: according to European statistics (EU-25, Euro 2005) 48% are under the age of 35 and those over 55 represent less than 10% of those employed in the sector, although their number is growing as a result of demographic changes. The number of women (54 % of the workforce) exceeds the number of men. This sector is considered suitable for young and relatively unskilled people starting work for the first time. The educational level of those working in the sector is low: 40 % of those in employment are relatively unskilled; Only 1 in 10 people have a higher education. Objective 12 (Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns), in the part sustainable production and consumption, efficient use of natural resources. Reduce food waste and food waste, reduce food losses along the production chain, reduce waste generation through processing and reuse. According to data from the European Court of Auditors [9] around 17 % or more than EUR 930 million will be allocated to the European Union. Tons of global food are thrown away at retail, restaurants and consumers. All this leads to future food insecurity and a negative impact on the environment. With the launch of the European Green Deal back in December 2019, the EU reaffirmed its commitment to halving food waste per capita at retail and consumer level by 2030, in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Over the next year, the Commission identified a number of policies and instruments aimed at reducing food loss and waste as part of the Circular Economy Action Plan and the Farm to Fork Strategy, two main building blocks of the Green Deal. In July 2023, the European Commission presented a proposal to revise the EU Waste Framework Directive. The revision includes new EU targets to reduce food waste for 2030 [10].
\nIn this regard, the EU has changed the way food is produced and consumed in Europe, thereby reducing the environmental footprint of food systems, strengthening resilience to crises and continuing to provide healthy food at affordable prices for future generations [11].

By analyzing environmental impact data and customer preferences, the HoReCa sector can align its offerings with sustainable consumption patterns. And at point of delivery, AI can contribute to the reduction of packaging waste by optimizing packaging designs and materials.
